Helpful Tips: Does your countertops need sealing?
A simple test using a palm sized puddle of water will reveal if your surfaces are porous.
Simply puddle up a palm sized puddle of water in two separate locations on your countertops.
Let them sit for 10- 15 minutes and then wipe away with a paper towel.
If the area where the puddle was placed has darkened it is porous and will need sealing.
If you are getting no darkening then you needn’t seal.
Something most sealer companies wont tell you.
Different stones will exhibit different porosity rates.

We were recently asked, “Why is water beading on my granite?” Well put simply this is a good thing, it means the stone is sealed and repelling water and any possible stains. The thing to look for is after 5 minutes or so will the water soak into the stone. When it does does it leave any kind of mark. Either way, it’s time to have your granite cleaned and sealed.
